Bon Voyage!
I'm currently waiting at my gate at LAX, and I can't believe that the day is here! I'm going to Paris!
It's so surreal, that a dream that felt so far out of reach earlier this year is becoming a reality.
Again, I would like to thank the UCLA International Education Office for this incredible opportunity!
I'm flying to JFK first, and then going to CDG. I will be arriving in Paris on July 4. Sad that I will be missing the celebration in America, but I am much more excited to experience Bastille Day on July 14. I am very intrigued to see how the French celebrate their country and compare it to the American patriotism.
I have been receiving emails from the US Embassy in France, warning about the labor union protests in Paris and high levels of migration in Calais occurring throughout France. I am unsure if this will directly affect my travels, but I am sure that we will discuss this in class. This is such an interesting time to be traveling to Europe, especially in wake of the refugee crisis and the Brexit. I am very excited to learn and discuss these issues in class with Professor Thomas.
My flight will be boarding any minute now! I can't wait to get to Paris!
I will be posting regularly while I am in Paris, so check back for more posts!
